In Third World America–A Trunk Full of Blues

This is an update on my current health issues for those that are interested…

Let me say up front that I am not asking for anything from anyone!!!

My health is still in question as it pertains to which way my life is going. I am seeking different doctors even though I have no faith in the medical profession at all!

My mood is about as low as it has ever been but my blues and worries have shifted from my self to my wife. Medical bills are filling a trunk and we are no longer making ends meet. If I pass then my wife is going to inherit more of a burden than she will be able to endure I fear.

What ever happens to me I have to find a way to leave her in better shape than it looks to be at this time. I’m becoming very desperate and am not sure where these feelings are going to lead me. I’m very tired and weak and don’t know what to do.

Anyway I don’t know when or if I’ll be posting again so take care friends and when you vote this year I ask that you consider those of us who live in the third world country, within the US, that goes largely ignored by the greedy self-serving masses.

If this makes no sense I apologize; I am very angry and bummed-out!!!!!!

  1. Dear Friend,

I have been admiring you and adoring your work since I discovered your flickr photos last year. I must say that, after reading your blog in my google reader today, I became totally distressed. I had no idea (but why should I have known) that you had these issues in your life. All I can say is, my prayers are with you and your wife, dear friend, and truly hope that you will be able to continue writing. God’s blessings be with you.

  2. My prayers are with you also, D. And don’t worry about your wife…she will find a way out from underneath the burden – I’m sure it is the LEAST of her worries.

My friend lost her husband at the age of 26 after three years of medical bills associated with cancer. She found a way out. Your wife will, too.

Selfishly, it is the fact that I may not be seeing any more of your art here… I am distraught at that prospect and I don’t say that to many people. God bless you, D. I will continue to pray…

  3. My dear, sweet, mountain man friend,

You must not let this desperation overshadow what is truly important in your life. Use what energy you have to focus on your faith and healing yourself. You have been blessed with so much beauty in your life and seen first-hand the miracles that God can do, each time you look through your lens and capture His creations. Never forget that you’re one of those miracles and all you have to do is reach out.

There comes a time, usually when the darkness sets in and threatens to overtake us, when the only thing we can do is Let Go and Let God…then let your faith in Him do the rest. Trust me on this, Dennis, I’ve been in that dark place and emerged in the light, only because I admitted that I was helpless and gave my troubles to God to handle.

In the interim, please let me know if there’s anything I can do for you, and know that I’ll do what I can.

Peace and Love to you always,

    Jill

  4. This makes perfect sense. I too hope that people will vote for those of us who barely make ends meet; those of us with illness and no medical insurance; those of us that have been forgotten by those that have what we don’t.

Focus on getting well. Your wife will make it. So will you! I think she (your wife) is very lucky to have you worrying about her right now, and you are lucky to have her. We, your readers, are lucky to have come across your beautiful artistry and your wonderful heart.

Take care of yourself. Like I said, focus on getting well.

  5. I agree with you entirely about the pathetic state of US healthcare. You have my complete sympathies, and I hope all works out well for both you and your wife. I am planning to vote for the candidate with the most promising plans for the healthcare and other concerns of people like you. (though I think the strongest candidates on these issues are not in the race).
    All best wishes.

  6. Someone whispered words to me in a different life time, a long time ago, that gave me the strength to push forward. I will give them to you today, with all my heart, all my friendship, from me to you…

“Never give up on the miracle 5 minutes before it happens”

My prayers and good thoughts go out to you and your wife!

  7. I found your pics by accident and have fallen in love with you for a few months. I dont know you and probably never will but I did send you an email. I would love to purchase some of your work. I hope you feel well enuf to respond. God Bless you and your wife…

  8. DL, I understand what you are going through, hope you have the courage to face it and overcome all your fears. There is light at the end of the rainbow. I love your photography , though you might not be taking photos for us to admire, do continue to keep in touch with friends like us. Meanwhile, take care and all the best.
