So THAT’S what they’re called! I saw them everywhere last weekend when walking through a local nature preserve.

Our mayapples have spread their umbrellas too, but only the slightest evidence of the bud. Maybe another week for a flower – it’s been cool.

What a fitting name for this photo. I’ve never seen this plant, that I can recall.
The plant adds a wonderful color to the scene!
